Doubt

Doubt. A simple word that can cripple a man.  As tough as you may think you are, it will hold you a step back.  It will make you question your existence.  A word so paralyzing that it can hinder your ambitions.  It turns the strongest men against themselves. So how do you control it?  That is a tough question.  It is different for every one of us.

What can keep us all  pushing through the brick wall of doubt?  Is it the breath of a new born son or daughter, a crisp nights breeze while you lay outside looking at the stars for answers, or is it as simple as an angelic sigh from the pit of your stomach?  You tell me what makes doubt lose it’s power. For me, it’s the thoughts of my future.  The thought of doing things that yesterday seemed insane, but today seem right.

You see, I am still looking for answers.  Still looking for reasons that I am still alive.  Sure, I take great pleasure in helping others that are lost in the disease that I have a choke hold on  at the moment.  But what’s next?  I am still a 27 year old man, with little college education who is fishing in a world of endless possibilities.  Where will I end up next?  I too have that heavy burden of doubt on my shoulders, I am no different than any other.

I just want you all to know, whoever and wherever you are, that you and I are really no different at all. We all have our battles with doubt. We all have that little voice inside our heads at times telling us we can’t. What will eventually set us apart from one another, are the ones who can tackle that little voice, and tell it to shut up. So which one are you? Are you in the driver’s seat of your own mind, or are you simply a passenger going along for the ride. You are the only one who can decide.
